This is simply Ios leaving 'home' as a teenager to go travelling. I have pretty much decided he will have white hair and I have a good idea of his facial features such as placement of scars, etc.
Now for the analysis part.
The 'tree' line on the left could have been much better drawn overall. In fact, the trees barely look like trees. Maybe bushes. Maybe not. The grass at the front of the picture could have been thinned out a little as the graphite from the pencil hides a lot of the colour there. I'm prett happy about that rock though (yeyforrocks). I'm largely ok with the hills and mountains but the big grey bar in the middle is a little distracting I think. My shading in this was largely three colours for each thing coloured. I would layer these colours into one another and it looks ok. The only problem is that it looks a little flat in the background. The clouds are fine for now, but the distance could have been conveyed better using them.
As for Ios himself, I kept him simple with a view from behind him as I was mostly interested in the background here. His clothing and pack are simply coloured, he was an orphan after all, so he would have only been able to scrape money together for simple clothes and kit, this was useful though as it gave me an excuse to not make him look eye-catching here, other than in his central placement in the picture.
That brings me to the next point of composition, which is something I have no idea about. Is Ios being in the middle a bad idea? The left seems much busier than the right further up the image, but further down I added in a rock which I think balances it out a little. There's also some trees on the left too. You did know they were trees, right?
